Estate Planning

Immigration Lawyer

We're happy to work with you to develop and construct estate planning documents regardless of your age or size of your estate

revocable trust

trust vs will

Whether you need a simple will or a complex trust, please feel free to contact us and we're happy to review your circumstances and offer some suggestions.

The most common question we get is: what is the different between a will and a trust? The easiest way to think about a will is that it's a document that instructs how your assets will get distributed as quickly as possible after you pass and the probate process is completed. In contrast, a trust is a vehicle that holds your assets and dictates how and/or when your assets get distributed based on conditions that you are able to specify like particular events (graduation, marriage, buying house, etc) and/or passage of time (at age 25, 30, etc). A trust also allows your estate to avoid probate and the corresponding tax. Lastly, a trust helps avoid the federal estate tax that kicks-in when your estate value exceeds $11.58 million, so even if the estate tax isn't an issue today based on your estate's value, hopefully it's an issue later.  We're happy to help you create any of the following documents

  • Trusts;
  • Wills: simple or non-simple;
  • Living Wills or Advanced Medical Directives
